"BABYMETAL" is the debut studio album by BABYMETAL. It was released on February 26, 2014 in Japan through BMD Fox Records. The songs from the album dates back to the origins of the band in 2010, and incorporates tracks from their earliest released singles, back when the band was a sub-unit of the Japanese idol group Sakura Gakuin.
It was released in three versions: a limited CD+DVD edition, a limited CD edition (only available to BABYMETAL APOCALYPSE WEB members) and a standard CD only edition.
The limited CD+DVD edition comes with a bonus DVD featuring five music videos, a live video clip for the song "Gimme Chocolate!!" from their live LEGEND "1997" SU-METAL, and 5 live videos from the SUMMER SONIC 2013 event. The BABYMETAL APOCALYPSE limited CD edition comes with different versions of the songs "Akatsuki" and "Song 4", plus a BABYMETAL artist book volume 2 (32-page full color "Holy Scripture" booklet). The standard CD only edition comes with 13 songs.
A re-release of the limited edition was released on July 26, 2014, to commemorate their 2014 World Tour. It contains same tracklist of the CD and DVD, but a new cover.
In mid-2015, the album was re-released worldwide under different record labels with two bonus tracks: the new song "Road of Resistance" and a live performance of "Gimme Chocolate!!" from O2 Academy Brixton.
